Should You Apply to the FAA?

The FAA is currently taking applications for the 2016-2017 school year! So here is what you need to know about the FAA community!

If you may not know, the Franklin Arts Academy is an academic community, here at FHS, that allows its students to use creative and open-ended thinking to complete projects and schoolwork. Students a part of the FAA get to have many unique opportunities like completing a final project that showcases their work, going on an annual field trip, and getting to be a part of a close-knit community.

Melissa Reinertson, Senior here at FHS and the FAA’s Vice President, says: “A lot of people go into the FAA and have confidence boosts and improve their GPA because they feel more motivated to do the work.”

Students who have an interest in any forms of art or typically learn better in a more collaborative and engaging environment are welcome to apply to the FAA. Because the FAA is part of FHS, the FAA has the same academic standards as FHS. All FAA courses are offered as Open Honors;  so students can take courses for Honors or College Preparatory credit in the FAA.

Applications for the 2016-2017 school year are due by February 2nd. To apply, students must have 3 recommendations, an application with a short essay, and an example of a piece of art that they have done themselves. This could be visual art, clip of a performance they gave, a video, or a piece of writing. You may get your applications from guidance and on the FHS Website under FAA Program and turn them in to your Guidance Counselor by the deadline which is again, February 2nd.
