The 91st Academy Awards (the Oscars) will be on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 8:00 PM on ABC. The event takes place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The two most nominated films are The Favourite and Roma, each with ten nominations.

For the first time since 1989, this year there will be no host for the Oscars. Some of the presenters include: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Evans, and Maya Rudolph.

A Star is Born and Vice had eight nominations, close behind The Favourite and Roma. Bradley Cooper, who directed A Star is Born, and Lady Gaga will be performing their song titled, “Shallow” from their movie. The song is nominated for Best Original Song. Additionally, Jennifer Hudson will sing “I’ll Fight” from RBG, also nominated for the same award.

One of the most anticipated awards is the award for Best Picture. The nominated films are: Roma, Green Book, BlacKkKlansman, The Favourite, Black Panther, A Star is Born, Vice, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Elizabeth Clark, a junior, thinks either Roma or A Star is Born will win. For all the trailers of the movies nominated, click this link.

The nominees for Best Animated Feature are: Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Clark also predicts that Incredibles 2 will take this award home, but notes that Ralph Breaks the Internet was also great.
