The Day Of Silence

The day of silence as defined by day of silence.org is a day when “hundreds of thousands of students nationwide take a vow of silence to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools.”  Though it passed already this year it is important because though many people do not know how to deal with this so called issue it shows that LGBT people worldwide are not afraid to stand up and be themselves.  Also it is not just LGBT people there are thousands of people straight, bi, gay, and lesbian which goes to show no matter what you choose to do in your life there will always be people who can support and help you.  This is important also because not just people in this school deal with.  The GSA is a club that helps with these problems.  A famous rock band Rise Against recently recorded and released a song for the It Gets Better foundation called make it stop(September’s Children) it is about 3 LGBT people who think about suicide deu to bullying and the band specifically metions 10 names of LGBT teenagers who took there lifes due to bullying.  So where you are LGBT or straight join in with the thousands on the day of silence on April 20th 2012.
