FHS ACADEC Team Clinches 3rd Place

Academic Decathlon is a competition where students compete in subject areas such as social science, science, math, literature, etc in regards to a certain topic.  A speech and and an essay are also components of the competition.

At the beginning of the year, students get packets of the information they need to study.

This year’s theme was India.

The FHS Academic Decathlon has achieved 3rd place in their recent state competition at MIT.

Senior Soumya Sabbella got 2nd place and earned a silver medal for the interview section.  Senior Evan St. Germain got 3rd place in art, 5th place in economics, and 5th place in the science section.

Junior Calvin Park received three bronze medals in the regional competition, and junior Sam Friday got 5th place in the biology section.

Sophomore Sumit Choudhury got 5th place in the math section.

“I think we were a good group of kids this year. We were all light hearted and spirited. And that made a great team. I’m so proud to be a captain,” says team captain Soumya Sabbella.

We encourage dedicated people to join for the 2016-2017 school year. Next year’s topic is World War II.
