Franklin High School Peer Leaders Collect Donations for Light Up A Life

It is the holiday season, which means temperatures are getting colder, students are getting excited for break, and no matter what you celebrate, the holiday spirit is in the air. But for some families, it is not easy to gain access to basic necessities around the holiday season.

The Santa Foundation is an organization located right here in Franklin, that collects gifts and monetary donations from the community to purchase necessity items/gifts for those in need this holiday season. Their mission is to provide these families with a chance to feel like any other family on Christmas Day and give them the ability to have a happier holiday.

Each family has their own holiday Wish List in which they can request what their family is in need to this season. Some of these items include blankets, diapers, jackets, and toys, among other things. The Santa Foundation also works in conjunction with the Franklin Food Pantry as well, to donate food items to families in need.

Inspired by the mission of the Santa Foundation, the Franklin High School Peer Leaders will be continuing their Light Up A Life fundraiser this year, in which they will collect monetary donations for the efforts of the Santa Foundation. 100% of donations will be used to directly purchase items for these families in need. After collecting donations they will take part in wrapping these gifts to be delivered to the Santa Foundation.

Peer Leaders will be coming around to classrooms every G Period from now until mid-December to collect donations. The goal for monetary donations at Franklin High School is $10,000, and the class to donate the most money will receive a prize. Any donation makes a difference, there is no amount too small. Please consider a donation to help a family in need this holiday season.
