Through the decades we have seen legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but what will the 2012 class bring us? The 2012 induction ceremony will take place at Cleveland’s Auditorium on April 27th. The ballots will be given to over 500 voters that will also include inductees from the past. Usually 5 artists will make the final cut.
The complete list of nominees is The Beastie Boys, The Cure, Donovan, Eric B. & Rakim, Guns N’ Roses, Heart, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rufus with Chaka Khan, The Small Faces / The Faces, The Spinners, Donna Summer and War. Among the 15 artists nominated is the legendary band Guns N’ Roses. They have had hit songs over the years including “Welcome to the Jungle”, “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine”. One major question to ask is if inducted will GNR play with the whole band? They have had their differences in the past with clashes between lead singer Axle Rose and guitarist Slash. I guess we will have to wait and see.
I believe that GNR should definitely be inducted; they absolutely deserve to be inducted into the hall not to take anything away from the other bands that have been nominated. All of these bands are great and are well deserving of a nomination. My 5 picks for the induction are GNR, The Beastie Boys, The Cure, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It should be an interesting night inCleveland.
