At the Spike TV’s Video Game Awards on Saturday December 10, viewers were able to see a new trailer for the next installment to the Metal Gear series. This one is not called Metal Gear Solid though, now it’s Metal Gear Rising.

Hideo Kojima is always at the top of the list for video game creators. Kojima is the mastermind behind the series. He is the one that made stealth action games popular with the introduction of the popular game character Solid Snake. This game features the character Raiden who was featured in Metal Gear Solid 2 and MGS3.

Unlike the other Metal Gear Solid games, this game will have a higher focus on gameplay than story. The game features a revolutionary “cut and take” style. This means that players will be able to freely and fluidly slice almost anything in any direction they want. Then they will be able to take things from their opponents that are typically cyborgs.

This game will bring back the voice of Quinton Flynn to play as Raiden. The story of the game will take place between the events of MGS2 and MGS4 with Raiden becoming a cyborg ninja. He will use sneaking weapons such as his trademark high-frequency blade and a dagger.

This date for when this game will come out is still unknown. But it is set for sometime during next year in 2012.
