On January 2nd in a California hotel room, Justin Bieber was photographed smoking what appeared to be marijuana. This teenage act is so casual for many kids his age, but when he decided to take this chance, things went viral. His obsessed fans have contributed to a horrible trend on twitter “#cutforBieber” or “#cuttingforBieber”.

This topic has been talked about on the Anderson Live talk show, on radio stations, all over twitter and many other places through out the world this past week. The idea was started as a hoax, who jokes about self harm these days? Well, apparently some pranksters started this to see if teenage girls would actually go as far as hurting themselves with hopes of stopping Justin Bieber from smoking weed. Fans have begun cutting their wrists and have claimed to stop only when he stops smoking. Some people have posted pictures of cutting paper, while others seriously hurt themselves by cutting their wrists and posting these photos online.

Bieber has not come out with any direct statements about the issue, but has tweeted, “Everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up”,“Back on tour tomorrow. ready to see u all smile. time to do what im supposed to be doing. performing”, “I see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u. #beliebers”, “Like i said…2013…new challenges. new doubters…Im ready,” continued Bieber. “We are ready. see u all tomorrow and everyday after that. #BELIEVEtour.”

It is still unsure if Bieber was actually smoking marijuana, cutting will not get him to stop this if he even is. Self harm is a very serious thing, as Miley Cyrus, friend of Bieber spoke out by retweeting, “cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.”

“I don’t think it is bad he was smoking because like all boys his age do it, and he shouldn’t be hated on for it just because he’s famous. I feel like boys our age kind of have more respect for him because it just shows he’s a normal teen. I think people cutting their wrists are just stupid and no one should do that in general and I think that in the future Justin will get a lot of hate for it but also people will stick by him,” Carly Prunier, FHS senior and obsessed Belieber says on the issue.

“I think that him smoking is not a big deal at all, I think that a lot of teens smoke and try different things as teenagers and young adults just for experimentation, he’s constantly surrounded by rappers and people in the industry who do smoke. I think that the cuts for Bieber is absolutely ridiculous and just flat out crazy, you can’t control what someone else is going to do with their life and yeah it’s hard being in the spotlight constantly but his actions should not have an affect on other people and girls should NOT be using self harm to be coping with something that they don’t even know the full truth behind, and it really to me is no big deal if he smokes it’s his life and his decisions he’s an adult,” Meaghan Swenson, FHS senior and huge fan of Bieber.
