Neutral Milk Hotel Comes to Boston

Indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel will be coming to Boston for the first time in fifteen years this January. Tickets for the group’s January 16th and 17th performances at the Orpheum Theatre are sold out.

The self-described “fuzz-folk” band is headed by Jeff Mangum, who has attracted a large underground audience with his powerful vocals, creative use of background instruments, and whimsical lyrics inspired by the life of Anne Frank. Following the 1998 release of his second and final album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Jeff Mangum faded out of the limelight.

In 2010, Mangum began playing solo concerts, and he came to Boston in 2012. In 2013, he reunited with the original members of Neutral Milk Hotel and announced the band’s first visit to Boston in fifteen years.
