Hunger Games Star, Philip Seymour Hoffman Died February 2nd

Philip Seymour Hoffman, the actor who played Plutarch Heavensbee in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, died from a drug overdose February 2nd. According to the New York Times Hoffman was “perhaps the most ambitious and widely admired American actor of his generation.”

Hoffman was found dead in his apartment in Manhattan by his close friend and playwright, David Bar Katz. According to Katz, Hoffman was sober and himself the week before.

Hoffman’s career of being an actor was less than 25 years, but during it, he was in more than 50 films. Some of his work were: “Mission Impossible III”, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “Moneyball”.

Right before he died, Hoffman was working on “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2.” He finished Part 1, but still had more shootings for the second film.

Students at Franklin High School are talking about this death. For example, Becca Mitchell, Freshman says “Its tragic that he’s gone, but his death IS his fault.”

Even though Hoffman didn’t finish the second part of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”, he will appear in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1” which premiers in November.
