“Finding Neverland”: The New Magical Show on Broadway

One of the highlights of going to New York City is going to Broadway and one of the new hit shows visitors (and residents of NYC) are seeing is “Finding Neverland” that is showing at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre. The show opened up on Broadway on April 15th, but was premiered in the United States at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

If you may not know, “Finding Neverland” is the backstory of the creation of the magical classic, “Peter Pan through playwright, J.M Barrie’s relationship with Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her four sons, Jack, George, Peter, and Michael. From inspiration by this family, Barrie creates a story that no one had ever seen before.

The Broadway adaptation of this mystical story stars Matthew Morrison (former actor of “Glee”) as J.M Barrie, Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”) as Charles Frohman and Captain Hook, Laura Michelle Kelly stars as Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, and Carolee Carmello plays Daphne du Maurier.

The musical variation of the film by Harvey Weinstein, written by James Graham and directed by Diane Paulus, includes music composed by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy.

This show will definitely be a great thing to see if you go to NYC over summer break. However, if you do not travel to NYC over summer vacation, you have lucked out. The cast has announced that they will be starting a U.S Tour that will begin in Upstate New York on October 7, 2016.
