If you haven’t heard Adele’s 30 yet, we understand. Maybe you haven’t finished scream-singing “All Too Well” from Red (Taylor’s Version), or maybe you just have something against British people. But seriously, it’s time to pause your Spotify queue and start listening to the most revolutionary album of 2021.

Adele’s new album marks her return from a six-year release hiatus during which she experienced challenges such as a divorce, raising a child, and an incredible weight-loss journey. As such, the tone of 30 rings with a new maturity and understanding of life, contrasting the raw emotion of her previous albums, 19, 21, and 25.

The content of the album reflects her growth as well. Straying away from the themes of breakups that marked her iconic songs “Someone Like You” and “Rolling in the Deep,” the tracks of 30 tackle issues such as Adele’s sense of self-worth (“I Drink Wine”), the challenges and guilt of being a working mother (“My Little Love”) and perhaps even the excitement of a midlife crisis (“Oh My God”).

Throughout the tracklist, Adele retains the powerful vocals that launched her to fame, giving listeners what they’ve been waiting for with belts and high notes. Yet she also branches into more creative artistry by including new sounds, and voiceovers such as those in “My Little Love.”

Overall, 30 marks Adele’s stunning return to the music industry and is instantly dominating the charts, while also delving deeply into her personal life and hopefully giving the singer a sense of peace as she airs the emotions she’s been bottling for six years. The only thing listeners are lacking as they put 30 on repeat, is Adele’s announcement of a USA tour…
