A masked gunman opened fire in a Portland mall yesterday afternoon, killing two people and seriously injuring another before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooter, wearing a hockey mask and bulletproof vest, was said to have fired 60 or more shots.

He is said to have been identified, but local authorities are not yet able to release his name. The two victim’s names have yet to be released, as well.

The shooter’s motive is still unknown, though former FBI agent Brad Garret commented that:

“The biggest thing for a mass shooter is the control and empowerment for the shooting. It isn’t uncommon for the shooter to wear a costume, or sometimes simply to dress in black.”

The aftermath of the shooting continues to grip the nation as a victim is still declared to be in critical condition.
