Missing Flight?

A flight leaving from Malaysia Airlines disappeared after its departure on March 8. 239 people were on the plane. The flight MH370 departed Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 12:41 a.m. (local time). Its destination was Beijing, China, but after two hours of flight, contact was lost with air traffic control. It had been due to arrive in Beijing six hours later.

Spokespeople for the airline say the military, air force and navy had been brought into the search. Assistance has been requested from China, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The plane held 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members. This included 153 Chinese nationals, 38 Malaysians, 12 Indonesians and 4 Americans.

Many students expressed concern over the matter. Senior, Shawnmaire Connolly shared her thoughts.

“It’s crazy that the flight could just disappear like that! It has to be somewhere… It’s not a small thing that can go unnoticed. I’ll be interested in hearing where they eventually find it. I hope for the sake of the people on board and their families that it is found soon… I know the people most likely won’t survive but it would be nice to have peace over the subject.”
