Horace Mann Day- May 3, 2015

Sunday, May 3rd was Horace Mann day. The Franklin Historical Museum celebrated the life of legendary education and historical figure, Horace Mann. The event had a few special guest speakers who came to speak about Mann’s life and impact. Among the attendees were Representative Jeffrey Roy and Superintendent of Schools, Maureen Sabolinski. The museum attracted many visitors and holds many precious artifacts that relate to this history of Franklin.

Grace found her love for journalism and sharing her voice through her sophomore year digital journalism class. Throughout her time writing for Pantherbook, she has covered an array of topics including club news, sports, current events, school news, community events, and op-eds about politics and issues of personal importance such as feminism; one of her editorials concerning feminism was briefly published on popular feminist journal, Feminist Culture. She also co-runs Young Democrats and most enjoys writing about the political sphere. Grace hopes to study journalism and political science in college and continue being published in school newspapers and beyond.
