A Mindful Quarantine

Millie Chalk, Writer

Meditation. The universally accepted way to slow down, unwind, and get in touch with oneself. A  form of self care that allows one to detach themselves from the daily stress of the world.

Although it is generally important to listen to and care for your body, it is even more vital during a time like this. Supposing quarantine is not allowing you to relax and refresh, it is important we are able to accept such an enormous turn of tables and a switch in routine.

It is strongly urged that everyone finds time to incorporate forms of meditation into their lives. Whether it is guided or unguided meditation, or calming versus insight meditation.

If this doesn’t appeal to you, there are endless options. For example, yoga, mindful note taking, mindful cleaning, mindful painting. Activities that absorb all your focus into them, temporarily isolating out other thoughts and anxieties.

According to Healthline.com, the benefits of meditation include a better control of anxiety, a general reduction of stress, enhancing attention span and self awareness, and close to an infinite amount of social emotional advantages.
