Tips for Surviving (and Thriving) Through the Last Weeks of School

Everyone is eager to leave school for the summer. I know I am. But the last few weeks of school are quite important in your education. Finals count for 10% of your average in each class, and if you blow off your last few assignments, you could hurt your Term 4 grade. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Here are some tips that you can use to get through the last few weeks, and still get good grades.
1. Make sure you right down all of your assignments in a designated notebook. This time of year, it is easy to forget those small assignments or deadlines. By writing it down, you can ensure that you won’t forget.
2. If you feel like you want to give up, try to envision all the free time you will have in the summer to do what you want. Say to yourself, “I won’t get that opportunity if I don’t do my best work until the last day,” so that you are motivated to keep working.
3. If you have other activities outside of school, then make sure that you have enough time to do all of your activities.
4. It can be very hot this time of year in school. Make sure you bring plenty of water to stay cool, and wear clothing that isn’t too heavy. Just make sure it follows the dress code!
5. If you can better focus in a cool environment, then do some of your assignments at your house if you feel that you do better work when you are comfortable.
6. Lastly, make sure you pay attention these last few weeks. Often, a more significant part of a final will involve work that you recently learned. Don’t zone out, especially if paying attention could significantly help you with the final!
By following some of these helpful tips, you can make sure that you excel in these last few weeks of school. Remember, it is important to keep paying attention, because the information you are just learning about will almost certainly constitute a major part of the final. Keep working hard, you can treat yourself when the summer comes!
