2 CHAAAIIIINNNZ!

No doubt you’ve heard his catchphrase on the radio, but now it’s time to learn more about the man, the myth, the legend, 2 Chainz.

Born Tauheed Epps, 2 Chainz needed persistence to reach his current notoriety.

Born September 12, 1976 in College Park, Georgia Epps grew up an only child, with a father in and out of prison his mother practically raised him by herself.

In high school Epps met Earl Conyers, who would later be known as Dolla Boy, in high school and formed a hip hop duo with him called Playaz Circle, an acronym for Preparing Legal Assets for Years from A to Z.

In 2007 the Playaz Circle released the hit single Duffle Bag Boy feat. Lil Wayne, the song peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Top 100.

In 2010, Epps felt the need for change so he left his record label and changed his stage name to 2 Chainz.

2 Chainz released a mixtape “T.R.U REALigion” which peaked at number 58 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He also continued being featured guests in other artists’ tracks.

In 2012 2 Chainz exploded onto the music scene with hits such as No Lie feat. Drake and Spend it, but not everyone is a fan.

“I think he’s ridiculous” said FHS seniorAlex Remilard

“I like almost any music, but most of the time I can barely understand what that man is even saying!” continued Remilard.

“The guy might not be the most appropriate, or make the most sense, but for some reason I get pumped up whenever he starts rapping” argues FHS junior and avid hip hop fan Tom Downing

“I’m still bumping “Mercy” in my car!” claimed Downing (who would then go on to rap the lyrics to the popular song)

So is 2 Chainz worth all the hype?

What do you think of 2 Chainz?
