Ted Cruz Caught Sleeping During President Biden’s Address?

Senator Cruz struggled to stay awake during President Biden’s Speech on April 28th.

At 8:00 PM on the night of April 28, 2021, President Joe Biden gave his first address to Congress; citing things such as the American Rescue Plan, COVID-19 vaccination distribution, stimulus checks, food, rental assistance and more.

However, a few people noticed that controversial Republican senator, Ted Cruz (R-Texas), was nodding off during the President’s speech, causing people on Twitter to crack some jokes at the expense of the corpulent and in-badly-need-of-a-shave-and-haircut Republican lawmaker.

Twitter user @mmpadellan, also known as BrooklynDad_Defiant!, says, “Ted Cruz is sleeping as soundly now as he did in the Ritz Carlton while Texans were freezing to death,”. The Tweet harkens back to the fact that back in February, the Republican lawmaker was caught on a vacation to Cancun, Mexico, when many of his constituents were without electricity and hot water due to a harsh snowstorm that hit the state, so the Democrat making fun of Cruz is somewhat justified here.

The Republican lawmaker took to Twitter today to defend himself by claiming that the President’s speech was “boring”, though many critics of Cruz scoffed at that idea and argued that Cruz was sleeping on the job.

Hopefully this serves as a wake-up call to the Republican senator to try and stay awake as much as he can when he is working!  In this reporter’s opinion, having one’s eyes open at all times is key in learning more about what’s happening around us and what a leader should epitomize.
