Remote students at FHS return to the building full time after almost a year of being at home.

Some of the students at Franklin High School have stayed fully remote this year and have never been in the school. How are they feeling about being back in person full-time?

Liana Warnakulasooriya, a 9th-grade student at FHS who has been remote all year, spoke about her experience and feelings about going back full time.

Warnakulasooriya states that she has seen her overall mental health decline due to the lack of social interaction that comes with being fully remote.

She also stated that she has seen a decrease in her average grades among her classes and that it has become much harder for her to complete assignments because of a lack of being able to focus at home.

She does think, however, that going back to school full time will help her to better focus and check in with teachers more often.

Another positive that Liana brought up about going back to school is getting a chance to meet new people and see friends, but on the other hand, she feels like going to school 5 days a week after being home for so long will be a very big change.

Overall, she admitted that at the beginning of the year she thought remote learning would be easier and less stressful, but she actually thinks the opposite now that she has stayed home for so long and says she is actually looking forward to being back in school again.
