Franklin Tennis

The Franklin girl’s tennis team will be playing their first match on Thursday, April 1. Their first match will be home against North Attleboro. This year is going to be a tough year for the girls because they have lost five seniors. Coaching for three years now is Dave Southerland. He says that “This year the girls will have to work very hard to fill the places of the seniors we have lost…the team is larger than it’s ever been with eighteen girls, and they seem to be getting closer as a team”. They lost their number one singles player, Sam Carney, their number two singles player, Elyse Bichler, and two starting doubles players, Sara Dilling and Lisa Provuncher. Senior and second doubles player, Kristen Jeffries, says that “We will have to work hard this year because we’ve lost so many starters”. Last year the team was close to making tournament, but they record was 9-12-0. This year they hope to make tournament and have an overall better record.
