Panthers Devour the Eagles on the Way to The South Sectional Finals

Ninth-seed Franklin, coming off of a big win against top-seeded Walpole, had to fight for their victory against No.4 BC High Eagles in the Division 1 South Semifinals. Franklin was able to get 21 hits in a remarkable 17-7 victory over the Eagles.

Franklin will be playing Xavarian at Braintree at 7:30 P.M. on Saturday.

The Panthers were on fire right from the start. In the first innings Jon Skaza helped to bring in two-runs, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead right from the start. Then after this Tim Garvey added to the first inning slaughter. With two men on base, Garvey hit a single to right-center, allowing two runs to come in. Franklin came out of the first inning with a 4-0 lead.

Skaza then fought back again in the end of the second inning. With two outs, he hit a two-run home run, giving Franklin a 6-0 lead.

By the end of the third inning Franklin had worked up to a 9-0 lead. Chaiton and Buck helped to add to this success by both hitting a strong RBI single to finish off the third.

It wasnt just the top of the order that was hitting well, the bottom of the order was also on fire. Garvey, Chaiton, and Simon-Franklin’s 7-9 hitters-finished the game with 10 for 14 with six RBIs. All nine hitters had at least one hit, and eight out of the nine had multiple hits.

The Eagles brought it to a 9-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Franklin then fought back in the fifth inning by bringing in another 4 runs.
