FHS Volleyball Sweeps North Attleboro

The Franklin High School varsity volleyball team swept North Attleboro 3 games to none in the highly anticipated match this past Friday in the FHS field house.

Both teams had been 6 and 0 before Friday, and prior the match, none of the girls knew what to expect. The first game started with both teams looking fierce and determined. After the first few plays though, the Franklin girls started to relax, as the North team and coach became more and more agitated.

The Franklin bench and stands went wild as the girls performed one of their strongest games so far this season. Captain Tee Urquhart led the team with twenty-eight digs, while Captain Alicia Wilde’s 10 kills befuddled North’s defense.

What really made the game, according to Kate Horsemann, long-time head coach for volleyball at FHS, was how many people showed up to support the team. She sends a special thanks to all those to come out.

“Everybody played great,” said Horsemann. “And when you play a team like that, everybody needs to play great.”
