Wings Spoil Bruins Win Streak

The Boston Bruins 10 game win streak finally came to an end on Friday in a shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. The last time the Bruins went on an 11 game win streak was in the 08-09 season. In the past 5 meetings against Detroit the Bruins are        1-4. Tuukka Rask was in net for the Bruins and Jimmy Howard at the other end for Detroit. At the end of regulation the game was tied with both teams tallying 2 goals, for Detroit, Valtteri Filppula and Pavel Datsuk and for the Bruins Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron. Neither team was able to bury the puck in the overtime period leading to a shootout.

Tyler Seguin was the first shooter for Boston and was unable to score on a wrist shot to the glove side of Jimmy Howard. Pavel Datsuk was the first shooter for Detroit and scored on a backhand forehand move. The next pair of shooters were stopped on both sides. The Bruins 3rd shooter, Nathan Horton scored on a wrist shot to tie it up.Detroit’s Todd Bertuzzi was able to put on a nice deke move and put the puck behind Tuukka Rask for the win, ending the bruins 10 game win streak. However the next night the Bruins were able to bounce back with a 4-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.
