New York Yankees Sign Ex-Boston Red Sox Player

General manager to the New York Yankees, Brian Cashman, revealed that Hideki Okajima has signed a minor league contract for the New York team.

This left-handed reliever once played for the Boston Red Sox and was a part of the 2007 championship team. He was with the Sox from 2007 to 2010.

For the most part of 2011, this newly signed player competed in Triple-A.

Cesar Cabral was also signed by the Yankees in the Rule 5 draft from the Kansas City Royals. The Royals drafter Cabral from the Red Sox originally.

Both newly signed players will compete for the second lefty spot out of the bullpen with Boone Logan. Both Cabral and Okajima are looking good in winter ball so it is anyone’s game as of right now.

What do you think this will mean for the Red Sox? Leave your answers in the comments below.
