FHS Track Team Shines at Divisionals

Franklin’s 4×400 team

Last Sunday the boys and girls indoor track team competed in the Division 1 championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston and both teams turned in very impressive performances.

The boys’ team ran Senior Andrew Hood in the mile who placed 6th with a time of 4:26:17, Sr. Paul O’Donaghue and Jr. Korey Hunt in the 600, Sr. Stephen Parece in the 1000 and Sr. Dean Chaput in the 55 hurdles.

The boys’ team also ran the 4×200 and 4×400 relays. The 4×200 team that consisted of Jr. Connor Wardrop and seniors Anirudh Singh, Ryan Maietta, and Connor Donahue placed 6th with a time of 1:33:72. The four also recorded the 4×200 school record earlier this season.

The 4×400 team that had Sr. Andrew Hood, Sr. Paul O’Donaghue, Jr. Tom Sameski and Sr. Connor Donahue placed 3rd with a time of 3:28:50 that shattered the school record and qualified them for the state championships on Sunday February 26th.

The girls’ team ran Sr. Alex Giese who came in 2nd with a time of 5:09:46 and Jr. Sarah Vetrano in the mile, Jr. Lauren Hagen in the 1000, Sr. Emily Stickles in the 2 mile, sophomore Carly Burgess in the 55 hurdles and Sr. Kendal Knous in the 600 who won the event and set the meet record with a time of 1:34:15.

The girls ran a 4×800 team that consisted of seniors Alex Giese and Kendal Knous, sophomore Caroline Knous and junior Lauren Hagen posted a time of 9:34:05 finishing second.

All members of the track team who ran on Sunday should be proud of their results and proud of their seasons. They all represented Franklin in a great way all season long and all their hard work and passion payed off with a great divisional meet.
