Track Competes At New Balance Nationals

Eight members of the Franklin track team competed in the New England High School Indoor Championships on Friday, March 2nd at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

The 4  by 400 boys team consisting of seniors Andrew Hood, Paul O’Donoghue, Stephen Parece, and Connor Donahue placed 6th with a time of 3:27.63.

Girls of the 4 by 800 team made up of Kendal Knous, Lauren Hagen, Emily Stickles, and Alex Geise placed 3rd at the meet with a time of 9:22.21.

This was the first time in many years where both the boys and girls team placed at the New England meet.

The boys 4 by 400 team and the girls distance medley team (with Alex Price instead of Emily Stickles) went on to compete at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in NYC.  The meet was held at the Armory (pictured above) in upper Manhattan.

“This is a once in a life time opportunity that very few people get to experience,”said Franklin Senior Paul O’Donoghue.

Though both teams did not run their best times at the meet they had great competition. They raced teams from all over the US, including teams from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and many more.
