Is he Laker material

Anthony Vendetti, CEO

Mike Brown the former head coach of the LA Lakers only the second coach in NBA history to be fired within the first five games of the season. Former Phoenix, New York, and Denver head coach Mike D’Antoni is replacing him as head coach.

D’Antoni only coached the nuggets for one year and in that year he accomplished a record of 14-36 and placed 6th in the Midwest.

He coached the Phoenix Suns for a total of five years and in those five years he placed first in the pacific three out of the five years. His overall win percentage with the suns is 63.4% which is not bad he had also made it to the conference finals every year he coached there.

His career with the NY Knicks was shorter than his career with the Suns and also he did more poorly with the Knicks than he did with the suns with a win percentage of only 42.1%

“Mike D’Antoni is a good coach and has been for the past several years but I do not know if he is Laker material”.” The Lakers have always been considered a good team and I don’t know it D’Antoni can handle a team of this caliber”. Said Senior Andrew Cyr

D’Antoni is no stranger to the game of basketball as you can see he also played basketball when he was younger. He is also a dual citizen to the countries of Italy, and the United States. He was drafted into the NBA in 1973, and played professionally until 1990.

D’Antoni started off his coaching career in Italy. He coached a club for Milan 1990-1994 leading the team to euro final in 1992.

He certainly has the qualifications to be a head coach but will he live up the Lakers standards.
