Rusney Castillo

We all know this year is a total bust. However, with the addition of Yoenis Cespedes and Rusney Castillo, the Red Sox are likely to be an offensive power house for the next years to come. Rising prospects like Mookie Betts and Christian Vasquez have made their debuts and now its time for Rusney Castillo to step into the spotlight.

Castillo signed a contract with the Red Sox for 7 years $72.5 million over the summer which is the largest contract ever for a Cuban player. Castillo is an explosive, young talent who looks to provide a spark that the Red Sox need in order to attract upcoming free agents. The promise of a talent such as Castillo along with Cespedes, Betts and Bogaerts is big bait for the Red Sox to bring in Cy Young pitching talent.

In his MiLB debut with the PawSox, Castillo led the game off with a home run, his first professional hit. In his time with the PawSox he was 6-22 with 3 walks, a stolen base, scoring 3 times, and hitting 2 doubles.  While facing elimination in game 4, Castillo came up with the game tying single. He helped the PawSox win the International League winning the championship for Triple-A.

This is a bright day for the Red Sox because tonight, Wednesday September 17th, Rusney Castillo will make his debut for Boston against the Pirates at PNC Park. I am looking forward to this as are many other Red Sox fans because this is the future of the team and I hope it is a bright one.
