Free-agent Mike Nugent will be taking over for the week five game against the Redskins. Stephen Gostkowski has been a reliable option but through the first four weeks of play, he was missing a lot of field goals and extra points. That is very uncharacteristic of him.

Mike Nugent is 81.2% on field goals for his 16-year career which is not bad at all. This will be his 17th season. Stephen Gostkowski entered his 14th year this year and has a field goal percentage of 87.4. Mike Nugent Stats 

Freshman Connor Brown from Franklin High School Franklin Mass. states: “I think Mike Nugent will do well this year. But Stephen Gostkowski was clutch so this is a big loss.” 

Stephen Gostkowski has had the lead role since he came into the league in 2006 but him getting injured may be a challenge for the Patriots. Will Mike Nugent be able to put up the same numbers as Gostkowski? Or will he flop this year? Only time will tell.
