The New England Patriots 2021 Season

The New England Patriots 2021 Season

6x Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots may be struggling this year, especially without QB Tom Brady. Will we see that team this year? For the upcoming 2021 season, the Patriots were guaranteed $159.6 million free-agent money spending, that is what they spent. Some will agree with the routes the team has taken and some will not. Speaking to a close family member, Mike, a Patriots fan knowing about the 2021 Patriots agency.

My first question; do you agree with the Patriots’ decision to trade players this season? Mike’s response was yes. He pointed out that it enables the team to go out and get better players because the team is only trying to get better. He recognized that he likes the players they have welcomed in so far, or back for LB Kyle Van Noy. “I think he brings veteran leadership [to the team]” Mike said. Many believe he is a great leader and will help our team significantly. The Patriots and Van Noy have agreed to a 2 year up to $13.2 million. Coming from the Miami Dolphins and a $51 million  4 year contract, $15 million guaranteed. He also added that he doesn’t disagree on rarely any incoming or leaving players to the team.

One of the most popular questions, will Cam Newton step up his play this year? Newton finished the 2020 NFL season with the Patriots, with 2,657 total passing yards. But, let the team down without finishing as the AFC division champions, which Brady had led them to nine. Mike added that he does not expect him to step up his game, and is expected to do the same as last year, even with new offensive players. He agrees with most as he doesn’t feel he is fit for this team.

Lastly, there have been many teams the Patriots have had their eyes on. According to Mike, he projects this team to be the Buffalo Bills, 2020 AFC Champions. The Patriots will face the Bills at least twice this season. Once away in Buffalo and once home at Gillette Stadium. But, there are always other teams and players to watch. Will the Patriots pull through the negativity?
