Ever thought about joining Unified Sports? Franklin High School offers Unified Basketball and Unified Track. Unified Sports teams up athletes with intellectual disabilities and athletes without intellectual disabilities (partners). The mission of Unified Sports is to foster a positive community environment by supporting each other and creating new friendships.

It is constantly making kids realize their potential and helps people feel good about themselves.

Unified Basketball player, Emily Tulloch, shares her favorite experiences as a partner.

“I made new friends and got out of my comfort zone,” she said.

She continues to describe it as, “a very positive, welcoming and fun environment for everyone who wants to be included. It is constantly making kids realize their potential and helps people feel good about themselves. Everyone involved plays a crucial role in making it how awesome it is.”

Every role in Unified Sports is important and helps build up a high-energy and inclusive environment for every game and even practice. Each team is meant to have tons of kind and excited participants who want to make new friends, be more inclusive, bring a smile to people’s faces, and so much more.

The Unified Basketball team has recently wrapped up its fall season, but Unified Track is right around the corner for the spring season, and you should consider joining!
