Let Your Voice Be Heard!

Looking for a good elective to take next year? Sign up for digital journalism with Mr. Leighton either first or second term!

You yourself could be writing these articles, interviewing your peers, and sharing what you want to say. Even if you don’t have much to say, you can cover news stories, and FHS sports team and more!

Think it’ll be too much work and stress? Well consider this: You will be easily producing one article a day after just a few weeks.

This class is available to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. It’s a good mix of ages to learn with.

If you want to see how it works, stop by D211 and join the Pantherbook Club today.

Senior Sean McKeown stated, “It’s a very independent and laid back course. I loved it and the amazing friends I made.”

You’ll learn how to become an effective journalist by developing interviewing skills, picture taking skills, reporting skills, video skills and using the Pantherbook WordPress program. After this, however, it’s all up to you to come up with your “voice” and your topics!

While still a fun elective, this class is great for college and a career since you will leave with about 60 articles to create a portfolio with.

Not to mention, when future employers Google you, your silly comments on Facebook and Twitter won’t come up, your well written, thoughtful articles will!

So what are you waiting for? Go down to guidance and demand digital journalism for next year!
