Batman/Superman vs Avengers: Age of Ultron (DC Fanboy Perspective)

Before we begin, let me just say one thing. I’m am a hardcore DC fanboy. So, if you prefer marvel, you might as well scroll down to the comments section and tell me how stupid you think I am without even reading this. But, if you are a rational human being, you may want to stick around.

Bold statement time! In 2015, Batman vs Superman (As it’s being called) will destroy Age of Ultron! Why? Well, it is simple. The answer is in the title. Batman and Superman. They are the two most popular comic book characters known to man kind and despite what you thought of Man of Steel, this film is going to make some serious bank for WB/DC.

I know what your thinking. “Tom, this is just a pathetic, desperate mash-up.” That enrages me. You are really going to say with a straight face that an excellent studio like Warner Brothers, who have given us great films such as The Town, Argo, and new thriller Gravity, (Batfleck was the lead in two of them) are still sitting on their asses, without a plan for their DC properties? Not a chance. See how much better it sounds when you give it some thought?

My third reason is this, confidence.  By getting up at Comic Con, and saying that friggin’ World’s Finest is coming to the big screen in two years, Warner Brothers has officially thrown down the gauntlet.  This film will be the first step in introducing more characters from the DC universe. (Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern)  We could even see a brief appearance from one of these characters in the film.  Maybe found footage of red and green flashes of light saving people during Superman’s fight with Zod in Man of Steel?  Perhaps an after credits scene with one of these characters, setting up a Justice League movie?  Man, isn’t it fun to speculate?

Get ready, this next one’s a dozy…

My final reason ofthe day is this, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.  I know, it’s out of left field but hear me out.  In the deal that’s in place for these two characters between Fox and Disney, Disney/Marvel can’t reference the fact that they are mutants or Magneito’s children.  For all of you non-comic bookies out there, let me put that into context.  THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!!!!  Did I mention that an entirely different  Quicksilver is going to be in X-Men Days of Future Past?  I don’t know what Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon are thinking!  It makes way more sense for Fox to use them in their mutant-filled X-Men universe because that’s where they belong!  Being mutants, is a key essential element to who these characters are!  I see Avengers 2 spending way too much time on some mega BS origin story for these two and sending the film off the rails.  You should be scared if you are a Marvel fan.  Avengers: Age of Ultron=MESS

Back to the topic of DC…

Take it from me, if the DCU is brought to the big screen properly in the world Zack Snyder and David Goyer created, then the days of Marvel ruling the big screen will be a thing of the past.  Batman vs Superman, if done justice, will be way better than Justice league would have been and bigger than Avengers 2 is going to be.  (BvS will be 2nd right after Star Wars Episode VII in 2015)

The Batman/Superman team up soars into theaters on July 17, 2015 and Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be released on May 1, 2015.
