On Saturday, April 27, the town of Franklin kicks off its 2nd annual ArtWeek festival with a ‘taste’ of its culture and arts. The event runs all week through May 5 with masterfully created art shows and live performances from Dean College’s Theatre Rep Ensemble, Feet in Motion School of Dance, and many others.

Live performances of theatre, dance, and music will be held on the Town Common at the gazebo stage, open to everyone free of charge. A craft fair, and hands-on art exhibits will also be set up on the Common all week, along with food trucks on Saturday.

Around town, the Franklin Public Library will be hosting events all week, such as the Post-It Note collage and a create-a-pinwheel garden for children in grades 1-6. Dean College will be holding performances and Franklin Agway will host a Throwing Seeds mural painting as well as a class on canning jams.

On Tuesday Apr. 30, join the Kenny Hadley Big Band with FHS Jazz Ensemble at the Black Box theatre, 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for adults.

At FHS on Thursday May 2 from 6-8pm, Empty Bowls club will be selling their fun ceramic creations, with all sales benefitting the Franklin Food Pantry. Tickets are required for the event.

ArtWeek will wrap up on Sun. May 5 with a 5k and Franklin 1 mile Fun Run along with a free concert at both the Library and the Franklin Historical Museum.

To continue this celebration of arts and culture, visit the FHS Media Program’s Film Festival on Wed. May 8. This event is open to all and will showcase a variety of movies created by Film, Video, and TV classes at the high school.
