Is The AP Exam Right For You?

The Advanced Placement exams run by College Board will begin Monday, May 4.

A schedule for these exams is located on the Franklin High Website here.

If you are questioning whether or not you should take the exam, here is advice from students who have already taken it!

Jacky Kinson, who is in multiple AP classes shares her thoughts.

“I took the AP Chem exam last year, even though I can use my credit next year in college I am choosing not to. I want to be retake the course next year so I can fully understand the material in the college setting”

“If you know you are not going to take the class in college, I recommend to not take the AP exam, taking the class alone is enough to look good to colleges” Kinson adds.

Kiley McKenna adds her feelings on the situation

“I have never take an AP exam, but I do want to be able to use my credits next year and so I believe that taking the exam is completely worth it!”

Jesse D’Entremont emphasizes to “make SURE you can use the credits, otherwise, don’t waste the money”.

Personally, I chose not to take the exam because MCPHS University, the college I will be attending in the fall, does not accept any science or math credits.

Make sure if you do have any colleges in mind that they DO accept the credit for the test you are taking. Don’t forget that taking the class and doing well is enough to help you get into the college of your dreams.
