Our favorite, ridiculously difficult nerd on TV, Sheldon Cooper has reduced us to tears with his personality in CBS’s Big Bang Theory. But what is the actor (Jim Parsons) like off screen? For starters his nickname is Jimmy P.

Parsons’ favorite character on the show is Penny, who happens to be the sweet, ditzy, aspiring actress that Sheldon Cooper butts heads with. Jim Parsons is good friends with Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny).

Here’s some irony: Jim prefers to drive when in a vehicle because he gets motion sickness as opposed to Sheldon who cannot drive and asks everyone for rides. Jim was also voted friendliest kid in his graduating high school class while Mr. Cooper is often hostile.

He grew up in Houston, Texas and studied theater at the University of Houston. Over the past 2 years he has won 2 Emmy Awards, 1 Golden Globe, 1 Teen Choice Award, and 1 Critic’s Choice Television Award.
