World’s Oldest Car-SOLD!

The world’s oldest car was sold Friday, October 7th for 4.6 million dollars in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

It is a steam powered car and it was built in France in 1884. The De Dion- Bouton et Trepardoux Dos-a-Dos Steam Runabout, nicknamed “La Marquise” has a top speed of 38 miles/hour.

It only had 4 previous owners over the past 127 years; the new owner has not been identified. The four-wheeled De Dion-Bouton was constructed for the French Count De Dion who was one of the founders of the company that built it.It was named “La Marquise” after the count’s mother.

It is said to be one of the most important motor cars in the world.
