The Loss That Will Cost

Saturday night, at Gillette Stadium, the Revolution suffered a loss that will cost them the big time. Losing to Seattle 2-1 will cot the Revolution the playoffs.

On the verge of playoff elimination for weeks coming they hoped to pick back up in time. Unfortunately the loss they faced on Saturday sealed their fate. Defensive errors made by A.J. Soares and Fredy Montero led to the two goals scored by Seattle, the two goals that cost them the game.

“It’s really discouraging and frustrating we can’t put 90 minutes together,” the Revolution’s captain, Sharlie Joseph, said in an interview with Boston Globe.com. “Whether it be inexperience or mental mistakes – we make two mistakes and it costs us.”

In total, just this season, the Revolution has surrendered 51 goals to opposing teams. This is their worst record since 2002 when Steve Nicol became coach.

Even though they will no longer be eligible for the playoffs the Revolution still has a few more games to play. “It’s going to be a long offseason,” Joseph said. “We’ve still got a couple games left and we have to finish the season strong.”
