Call it the Playoff Send Off

This past Friday night the lady Panthers basketball team closed down the Field House with its final game a 48-44 playoff win over Wachusett.

With there being no way another game could be played at Franklin High School’s Field House, Friday night was the last time it would ever host a high school basketball game.

Head Coach John Leighton commented after the game,

“We were honored to be the last ones to play here (the Field House), but it also adds a little bit of pressure because we really wanted to close this place out with a win.”

The Franklin High faithful were in attendance. Rattle City making it a “Black Out”. Fitting because it was like being at the funeral of the Field House.

Leighton on Rattle City being in attendance added,

“The playoffs are always a great atmosphere but when you get a crowd like that, its really something special.”

The Panthers got out to a decent lead to start but Wachusett battled back pulling within two but Franklin proved to be too strong for them to take the lead. Too many missed opportunities at the foul line and Franklin capitalized off it.

The games high scorer, Franklin’s Julianne Pisani, put up 22 points. Julianne and her sister Tracy were a forced to be reckoned with all game.
