FHS Peer Leadership is currently accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year! Applications are open to  current Freshmen and Sophomores. Peer Leadership is a group at FHS that is responsible for different events throughout the year (see below), related to community service, promoting peace in the school, and being leaders among their peers.

Applications can be found at this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RwsuZ6MaIDkmmRg8dFJ9H-F2JUhj00jCDdTtkVFalVw/edit

Please make a copy of the document linked above and answer the questions. After you have finished the application,  email your completed application directly to Mrs. Hess ([email protected]) and Mrs. Briggs ([email protected]) by Monday, April 27th @ 2:15 PM. Peer Leaders will not penalize anyone who submits their application after the deadline, however you must communicate your extenuating circumstances prior to submitting the application.

All applications to Peer Leadership will be anonymous. Once your application is reviewed, you will be notified if you have been selected to take part in the interview round, and decisions will be made shortly thereafter.

What events do Peer Leaders organize throughout the year?

Peer Leaders work closely with community organizations, FHS admin, and students, to host a variety of events including but not limited to:

Peace Takes Practice

Peace Takes Practice is an annual leadership conference held at Dean college for Peer Leaders and students who are considered leaders among their peers. This conference focuses on promoting peace and well being within the community, and focuses on topics such as substance abuse and being a leader in your community.

*If you are not currently a Peer Leader but you have been selected for Peace Takes Practice in the past, you are highly encouraged to apply, as you already have a basis of leadership experience that will be great for your application!

Red Cross Blood Drives

Peer Leaders hosts two blood drives annually for FHS students, working closely with the American Red Cross to put on this event in the FHS gymnasium. Students and teachers are able to sign up to donate blood during a school day.

Visits to the Middle Schools

Each year Peer Leaders visit local middle schools around the end of the year, to help ease the high school transition and talk to them about leadership and other opportunities at FHS.

The Peer Leaders look forward to reading your applications!
