A Look Into Franklin JV Football

Paul Baker, Writer

JV Football has shown many signs of progress this year, and they have also shown how much potential they have to be a good team in the upcoming years.

JV Football has been having a rough year. With their struggles in the Hockomock league, their record has dropped to 2 and 6. However, despite the struggles this year, some players have shined through and made real contributions to the team. One of these players is Evan Wendell.

Olineman Vishal Tiruveedi said:

“Evan Wendell has been a breakout player at the QB spot, giving us talent at a position we need.”

Tiruveedi added:

Matt Dumart has been a breakout defensive end for us this year. Totaling a solid amount of sacks and tackles.”

Unfortunately for the JV team, Matt has suffered an injury that will sideline him for the season. When speaking to Vishal about a possible return for Matt, he said:

“Not this season. He wants to come back, but he has pretty devastating injuries that could affect his baseball performance.”

Vishal also said that he expects the JV team to finish roughly around the 5-6 mark. He believes the team is a very talented group of individuals that are in good spirits. He also commented on the future of the JV and the Varsity teams at Franklin High, stating:

“Almost a playoff-ready team, a good amount of the freshman look very good this year.”

It seems like the players are in great spirits, and you can expect to see much better records in the years following.
