As Winter Track comes to a close, Spring Track and Field athletes begin to prepare for a fast approaching season.

Senior captains, Julia Fentery, Emma Clifford, and Julia Digiacomo helped to push the members of the Franklin girls indoor track and field during their last dual meet of the season.

This took place on Friday, Jan. 25. in order to pave the way for the Hocks championship on Thursday, Feb.14 at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Julia DiGiacomo, Senior and Captain of Winter track and Cross Country, begins to explain different ways in which she becomes ready for the start of another season.

Digiacomo states throughout the month of March, beginners should take it easy and start off with a slow jog and low mileage and gradually work their way up, whereas more advanced runners can begin with a faster pace with more mileage.

Through this next season, Digiacomo is looking to get a PR also known as a personal record with the 400m hurdles, as well as the 800m.

Digiacomo has been participating in spring track since her Freshman year of high school.

When asked how track has made an impact on her life, she states that track has introduced her to some of her best friends. Track gave her the opportunity to be with them every day.

Digiacomo believes that joining track is a great way to become closer to old friends, as well as a chance to meet new people in a positive environment.
