The holiday season is officially among us and many of us are feeling merry, bright, and particularly festive! Yet a controversial debate seems to linger and return each season… Real vs Fake Christmas trees!

Christmas is an exciting time of year for those who celebrate and picking out the perfect tree is a key aspect of getting into the holiday spirit.

You may be wondering, what is the difference between Real and Fake and why should I care?

First off let’s talk about Real Christmas trees. Traditionally, Christmas is celebrated with a genuine, handpicked tree that is cut straight from a farm.

Many prefer Real trees over Fake ones for reasons like family traditions and authenticity. For example, Sophomore and Real Christmas tree connoisseur, Daniella Palladino explained her reasoning behind her decision.

“It is more special to have a real Christmas tree, it feels more authentic.”

Palladino also explained how getting a Real tree is a “family tradition”.

Now, let’s discuss Fake/ artificial trees. In the last, fifty or so years, Fake Christmas trees, found at stores like Home Depot or Lowes, have become particularly popular as opposed to Real ones.

Some reasons for the appeal that Fake trees include are sustainability and their cleanliness. Sophomore and Fake tree owner, Cara Briggs wholeheartedly supports Fake trees.

“Fake trees don’t leave a mess behind and save us money each year.”

Briggs also included that her family prefers a Fake tree because “it is easier to manage than a Real tree.”.

So, what is your perspective on this discussion? What is better for celebrating Christmas, Real or Fake trees?
